SUBJECT: CITY COUNCIL REORGANIZATION
Background:
Annually, City Council selects one of its members to serve as Mayor and one to serve as Vice Mayor. Following is the procedure for reorganization:

SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT OF TRUSTEE - GREATER LOS ANGELES COUNTY
VECTOR CONTROL DISTRICT
Background:
The Board of Directors for the Greater Los Angeles County Vector Control District (District) is comprised of representatives from cities that are serviced by the District.
Pursuant to Section 2022 of the State Health and Safety Code (Code), City Council has the authority to “make an appointment of a person who shall be a voter in that city and a resident of that portion of the city that is within the district.”
The City Council has historically appointed one of its members to serve as a trustee on the District. Vice Mayor Valencia was appointed to a two-year term in 2020, which expires January 1, 2023. Therefore, there is a need to either re- appoint Vice Mayor Valencia or appoint another member for a two- or four-year term. Members serve for the entire term unless they resign.
According to the Code, Vice Mayor Valencia may be reappointed for a two - or four-year term or a new person may be appointed. The Board of Directors meets the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m.
