SUBJECT: ADVISORY BODY APPOINTMENTS
Background:
With the exception of the Planning Commission (which is commensurate with the appointing Councilmember’s term) and five members of the Art in Public Places Commission (which is established in the Norwalk Municipal Code), Advisory Body terms are for two years following a City election. Advisory Body terms are from January 1, of odd years to December 31, of even years.
There are vacancies on several Advisory Bodies: Art in Public Places (4), Community Promotion (1), Historical Heritage (3), Parks & Recreation (2), Public Safety (1), and the Youth Commission (all 15). The Youth Commission does not have any members at this time. The age range for the Youth Commission is between 13 to 18 years of age. Each City Councilmember has three appointments.
Two of the vacancies on the Art in Public Places Committee are appointed based on Norwalk Municipal Code §15.44.060, and require consensus of the entire City Council. Those positions are: one at-large Community Representative and one Outside Authority with Expertise in Art.

Staff recommends City Council make appointments to fill the vacancies on the various Advisory Bodies for two-year terms expiring on December 31, 2024.
