EQUITY PROGRAM GRANT FUNDS
Background:
The Outdoor Equity Grants Program (OEP) improves the health and wellness of Californians through new educational and recreational activities, service learning, career pathways, and leadership opportunities that strengthen a connection to the natural world. The intent of the program is to increase the ability of residents in underserved communities to participate in outdoor experiences within their community, at state parks, and other public lands.
Round Two of the Outdoor Equity Program provides funding for California’s underserved communities, which will continue to advance the goals of the “Outdoor Access for All” initiative championed by Governor Gavin Newsom and First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom and the Natural Resources Agency’s “Outdoors for All” initiative. Grant awards range from $20,000 to $700,000. Eligible programs must be outdoor programs designed to take place in the community and at natural area destinations through California.
The Recreation and Park Services Department will be applying for Round Two of the Outdoor Equity Program. The application process requires an approved resolution from the City of Norwalk City Council. If awarded, grant funds will go towards the development of educational outdoor activities in the community and day or overnight trips to natural area destinations in California.

Recommended Action:
Staff recommends City Council adopt RESOLUTION 23-72, A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORWALK APPROVING AN APPLICATION FOR OUTDOOR EQUITY GRANTS PROGRAM GRANT FUNDS.
