City Council Agenda Report
May 7, 2024
TO: Honorable City Council
FROM: Jesus M. Gomez, City Manager
BY: Gabriela Regalado, Director of Social Services
Salpy Kabaklian-Slentz, Management Analyst
Diana Hernandez, Social Worker I
SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF EXPENDITURE FUNDS FOR RENOVATION OF SOCIAL

SERVICES BUILDING
Background:

As part of the Social Services Center’s 50 th Anniversary, the building is receiving a makeover both inside and outside. Inside, the walls will be repainted, new flooring will be installed throughout, new storage cabinets will be purchased, cubicles that have worn out will be replaced and additional ones will be installed.

For the purchase and installation of the cubicles, following research, staff chose Sierra School Equipment Company, which is part of the OMNIA Partners co-operative agreement. 10 cubicles and three storage cabinets will be purchased and installed. The inclusive quote is currently $79,356. This amount may be adjusted due to date of delivery and installation. Increase in delivery costs may be as high as an addition $7,500.

For the installation of new flooring, which will necessitate the removal of the current furniture, staff reached out to several vendors. Staff chose to proceed with Bob Mardigian Floor Covering, a vendor who has worked with the City in the past. The current amount quoted is $39,270. This amount may need to be adjusted depending on the condition of the subflooring.

Staff chose Quad County Painting, Inc., also a vendor who has been utilized for past city projects, to paint the walls. The contractor will handle not only painting the inside of the building, but also the outside. The current estimated cost is $57,900.
