SUBJECT: PROJECT NO. 7936 - ACCEPT WORK FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDED CURB RAMP REPLACEMENTS – ENGINEERS
REPORT 24-01
Background:
On February 6, 2024, City Council awarded a contract to Kalban, Inc. (Santa Clarita) in the amount of $573,400 which included a contingency of $26,600. The project work is in eligible Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) census tracts within citywide Pavement Management Zones 13, 21, 22, 28, and 29 as shown on the attached map.
The scope of work included the replacement of existing corner access ramps with current American with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. Additional work in the amount of $27,185 was required for added square footage for adjacent sidewalks and linear footage for curb and gutters to construct the ramps to compliance standards. Furthermore, there was a reduction to the quantity of ramps which produced a savings of $24,400 due to unforeseen conditions (e.g., groundwater monitoring wells or soil vapor probes in the parkway, etc.). The final project cost was $576,185.
The project was successfully completed in accordance with approved plans and specifications on March 22, 2024.
