City Council Agenda Report
May 28, 2024
TO: Honorable City Council
FROM: Jesus M. Gomez, City Manager
BY: Gabriela Regalado, Director of Social Services
Daniel Abrego, Interim Senior Center Manager
SUBJECT: CAPITAL OUTLAY PURCHASE OF CHAIRS AND TABLES FOR SENIOR

CENTER MULTI-PURPOSE ROOM AND NUTRITION PROGRAM
Background:

MityLite is a provider of durable commercial furniture, which include banquet chairs and tables. In 2010, MityLite tables replaced the original tables at the Senior Center, which were beyond the depreciation life. In 2011, chairs were purchased also through MityLite, to replace worn chairs. Those chairs lasted over 12 years and are now in need of replacement. The tables and chairs are necessary for many programs, primarily the Senior Nutrition Program, where the Senior Center is serving over 170 seniors daily. Bidding for these specific items was bypassed, as MityLite specializes in furnishings for senior centers.

Fiscal Impact:

Adequate funds in the amount of $52,000 are allocated in the Fiscal Year 2023/24 budget for the purchase of the tables and chairs for the Senior Center Citizens Advised:
