SUBJECT: AGREEMENT – CUMMINS PARTS AND MINOR REPAIR SERVICES FOR
NORWALK TRANSIT SYSTEM
Background:
On March 28, 2024, the City issued an Invitation for Bid (IFB) No. 24-763 for Cummins Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Parts and Minor Repair Services for Norwalk Transit System (NTS). The purpose of the IFB is to acquire Cummins OEM parts and repair services for the NTS fleet that includes and an aging Compressed Natural Gas Fleet and first generation of Zero Emissions Buses (ZEBs) that are no longer under warranty.
NTS received three (3) bids including 1) Cummins, Inc., 2) Harbor Diesel & Equipment, Inc., 3) Rush Truck Centers of California, Inc. Staff reviewed the bids and determined that Cummins, Inc. provided the lowest and most responsive/responsible bid.
Fiscal Impact:
NTS is seeking a three year contract, plus two one-year options. Cost for the first year of the contract totals $70,000 which is included in the Fiscal Year 2024/25 Transportation Department adopted budget. There is no impact to the general fund.
