CITY OF NORWALK
CONFIDENTIAL - MAY 21, 2024 CONFIDENTIAL - MAY 21, 2024

EXISTING CONDITIONS - STUDEBAKER RD, SEGMENT A PROPOSED DESIGN - STUDEBAKER RD, SEGMENT A Studebaker Rd currently has two drive lanes in each
direction and a center turn lane with median. North of
the Adoree St and Studebaker Rd intersection, there are significantly fewer and less mature street trees, so the area is more exposed to the sun and vehicles. There are several bus stops on this short segment.

The proposal for Studebaker Rd removes
parking in the southbound direction and
adds a raised bike lane and a planted
buffer on each side of the street.

Extents: Foster Rd to Firestone Blvd, 0.84 miles
Lane configuration: two drive lanes in each direction,
center turn lane, and median. Parking on both sides.

CITY OF NORWALK
CONFIDENTIAL - MAY 21, 2024 CONFIDENTIAL - MAY 21, 2024 Railroad Right of Way Railroad Right of Way Multi-Use Path

EXISTING CONDITIONS - RAILROAD INTEGRATION, SEGMENT B PROPOSED DESIGN - RAILROAD INTEGRATION, SEGMENT B The railway intersecting Studebaker Rd, just south of
Nance St, has an approximately 70’ right-of-way, which has underutilized space on the south side of the rail tracks.

Ultimately connecting to downtown Norwalk, it provides a key opportunity for pedestrian and bicycle use.

The proposed design carries forward and extends the City of Norwalk’s proposed Class I Bike Path identified in the City’s Biycle Master Plan. A 15’ multi-use path is introduced along the south side of the rail, for regional travel. Landscaped buffers provide shade and greenery. Improvements also
include lighting and wayfinding.

EXISTING CONDITIONS - ADOREE ST, SEGMENT C PROPOSED DESIGN - ADOREE ST, SEGMENT C

CITY OF NORWALK
CONFIDENTIAL - MAY 21, 2024 CONFIDENTIAL - MAY 21, 2024 Adoree St is a residential road that has a wide
westbound drive lane and a drive lane and parking
lane in the eastbound direction. There is no sidewalk
on the north side of the street.

The proposed design includes a multi-
use path on the north side of the street
to facilitate pedestrian and bicycle
access to the Norwalk C Line station, via
a new connection (see next page).

CITY OF NORWALK
CONFIDENTIAL - MAY 21, 2024 CONFIDENTIAL - MAY 21, 2024 The proposed design for the Adoree St
and Studebaker Rd intersection includes
safer crossings and a new connection to
the Norwalk C Line station via a multi-
use path on Adoree St. A new plaza is
recommended to connect to the Adoree
St multi-use path.

The intersection of Adoree St/
Studebaker Rd faces heavy traffic from
the I-105 on- and off-ramps and would
benefit from traffic calming and a
pedestrian-first intersection design.

Improvements at this location include
high visibility crossings, no right turn on
red signage, leading pedestrian intervals,
and reduced curb radii. On Studebaker
Rd, raised and protected bike lanes are
recommended.
