May 6, 2025
TO: Honorable City Council
FROM: Jesus M. Gomez, City Manager
BY: Glen W.C. Kau, P.E., Director of Public Services/City Engineer Damian Rosales, Public Services Superintendent
Gabriela Garcia, Senior Management Analyst
SUBJECT: AWARD OF CONTRACT – CUSTOMER SERVICE AGREEMENT FOR RENTAL

AND CLEANING OF UNIFORMS AND RELATED PRODUCTS
Background:

As a member the cooperative purchasing program named Sourcewell, formerly known as the National Joint Powers Alliance, the City of Norwalk (City) provides staff uniform rental garments and/or other items such as City facility entry mats, cleaning cloths, etc., for the Public Services Department via contract with UniFirst Corporation (UniFirst). Sourcewell allows participating cities and various government agencies to enter into agreements as members and take advantage of large quantity bids and Request for Proposals nationwide.

UniFirst has successfully provided these services to the City for many years and have recently been awarded a new contract through Sourcewell. This will provide cost-savings for the City from the current pricing structure. The new Sourcewell contract with UniFirst is valid through March 25, 2030.

Fiscal Impact:

The FY 2025/26 budget includes funds for uniform rental and cleaning services and related products.
