City Council Agenda Report
May 6, 2025
TO: Honorable City Council
FROM: Jesus M. Gomez, City Manager
BY: Rita Ruiz, Interim Director of Public Safety
Jazmine Salas, Management Analyst
SUBJECT: AGREEMENT AMENDMENT NO. 2 FOR ELECTRICAL WORK
Background:

Improving the electrical system was necessary as part of the ongoing upgrades to the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to ensure optimal functionality and compliance with current standards.

HC Electric has successfully met all expectations outlined in the initial scope of work, which recapped mandatory EOC electrical improvements detailed in Request for Proposal 24-2102- 003. Additionally, they completed extra work requested for a breakout meeting area in the EOC as detailed in the first contract amendment.

This second amendment addresses the addition of power junction boxes needed for the exit signs in our inventory previously purchased for specific locations. The amendment also includes corrective work designed to repair paint damage and ceiling tiles affected by electrical work completed before the HC Electric project.

The funds required for this additional work are accounted for by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), which has allocated resources specifically for EOC upgrades. Utilizing ARPA funds will ensure the project will not affect the City’s general budget.
