SUBJECT: ORDINANCE NO. 25-1759 - AMENDING NORWALK MUNICIPAL CODE CHAPTERS 8.48 AND 8.5 RELATING TO SOLID WASTE HANDLING AND
RECYCLING AND ORGANIC WASTE DISPOSAL REDUCTION
Background:
The City Council, at its September 2, 2025 meeting, introduced Ordinance No. 25-1759, which will amend Chapters 8.48 and 8.5 of the Norwalk Municipal Code transitioning commercial waste collection accounts to a three-stream collection system. It will also require recyclables to be separated at the source. This ordinance is now being presented for second reading and adoption. If adopted this evening, Ordinance No. 25-1759 will become effective on October 17, 2025.
