RESOLUTION NO. 25-45
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORWALK
ADOPTING THE BUDGET AMENDMENT TO SUPPORT SERVICES FOR
THE MICROTRANSIT/ON-DEMAND PILOT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the City of Norwalk is committed to providing productive and quality service on all of its transit routes; and
WHEREAS, the City of Norwalk aims to reduce traffic congestion, lower emissions, and improve equitable access to transportation; and
WHEREAS, the City of Norwalk seeks to expand public transit to prioritize older adults and community members living with a disability while providing service to the general public; and
WHEREAS, a Microtransit/On-Demand service is a cost-effective alternative to fixed-route buses in low-density zones that solves first-mile, last-mile requirements; and WHEREAS, the Microtransit/On-Demand fare policy will remain the same as Norwalk Transit System’s Fixed Route service adult base fare of $1.25 for duration of the pilot program.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORWALK HEREBY DETERMINES, FINDS, AND RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to make the following appropriation and prepare the necessary budget amendment for the following account:

Expense: 713-45-4501-2080 $1,220,185
Transfer out: 713-45-4501-3994 $1,220,185
Use of Reserves: 710-45-4501-3994 $1,220,185
Retained Earnings: 710-0470 $1,220,185
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute an agreement, and any necessary amendments, with Nomad Transit, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Via Transportation, Inc., to implement a 12-month Microtransit/On-Demand Pilot Project.
Section 3. The Mayor, or presiding officer, is hereby authorized to affix his signature on this Resolution signifying its adoption by the City Council of the City of Norwalk and the City Clerk, or her duly appointed assistant, is directed to attest hereto.
