SUBJECT: ENERGY SERVICES CONTRACT – FIRST AMENDMENT
Background:
At its regularly scheduled meeting held on November 7, 2023, City Council approved an Energy Services Contract with Syserco Energy Solutions, Inc. (Syserco) and Budget Resolution No. 23- 68 for the acquisition of energy conservation equipment for the implementation of energy related improvements in public buildings or City-owned property.
Improvements included an array of projects as follows: New baseball field lighting at City parks, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) replacements and refurbishments, citywide HVAC automation controls, a new transformer at City Hall, and the installation of new solar array modules at the Social Services Center, Arts & Sports Complex, Norwalk Park, Aquatic Pavillion, Metrolink Station, Public Services & Transportation Facility, and forthcoming at the Civic Center parking structure.
These projects, in alignment with the City’s Strategic Plan, aimed to re-invest in existing and aging infrastructure, build great public destinations, maintain the City's financial resiliency, protect and conserve natural resources and protect people by reducing the effects of pollution.
Unforeseen field conditions caused delays to the project schedule, making it necessary to extend the term of the original agreement to December 19, 2026 to complete the project.
