SUBJECT: ORDINANCE NO. 26-1769 – ADJUSTMENT TO CITY COUNCIL SALARY Background:
The City Council, at its October 6, 2026 meeting, introduced Ordinance No. 26-1769, which will adjust City Council’s salary to $1,900 per month as provided for in Government Code §36516. This ordinance is now being presented for second reading and adoption. If adopted this evening, Ordinance No. 26-1769 will become effective on November 8, but the change will not become effective until after the swearing in of new Councilmembers on December 8, 2026.
Fiscal Impact:
There will be an increase of approximately $28,441 for the remainder of this fiscal year, and $56,885 annually from the general fund.
Citizens Advised:
The ordinance will be published as required by Government Code §36933.

Recommended Action:
Staff recommend City Council accept for second reading by title only and adopt Ordinance No. 26-1769, AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NORWALK ADJUSTING SALARIES FOR MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
