The program nam e GET ACTIVE is a co-option of a phrase youth in Oakland use that connotes violence as in the need "to get active" to resolve conﬂict. The Safe Passages GET ACTIVE program w ill provide a positive vehicle for 97 youth leaders in the Oakland com m unity to design and im plem ent positive com m unity building strategies and m essaging -- utilizing Urban Arts w ith a focus on Ethnic Studies and social justice, and other outreach and com m unications m ethods to engage their peers, fam ilies and the broader neighborhood in com m unity safety, revitalization and im provem ent eﬀorts.

The Latinx M entoring & Achievem ent (LM A) program is a school-based, culturally-rooted, year-round program that provides academ ic support, m entoring, and leadership developm ent for 65 Latinx youth ages 14-19 in three Oakland Uniﬁed School District (OUSD) high schools: Frem ont, Oakland, and Skyline. LM A's goals and activities are focused on academ ic achievem ent, cultural identity, civic engagem ent, health care access, and post-secondary and career readiness. Services are delivered 42 w eeks per year, during the instructional day, after school, and during the sum m er.

Teens on Target w ill provide year-round positive youth developm ent by training and m entoring 75 East Oakland high school students as com m unity leaders and violence prevention peer educators. Youth leaders w ill earn stipends for delivering 114 student-designed w orkshops to 500 OUSD students, on the causes of violence and how to avoid it. They w ill participate in dozens of com m unity advocacy events in the evenings and on w eekends - speaking at public forum s, testifying before leaders, speaking to the m edia, etc. Culturally relevant staﬀ w ill provide individualized m entoring to youth leaders.

Youth Together w ill provide a year-round transform ational leadership developm ent program for over a 150 low -incom e youth of color w ho live in district 3, 4, 6, and 7 and attend M cClym onds, Skyline, and Castlem ont high school. The program is com prised of a sum m er leadership cam p, w eekly developm ent sessions, academ ic support, civic and social engagem ent, and school w ide events for the year. Catholic Charities w ill annually serve 120 Oakland youth ages 14-18 w ith transition services for those m oving from 8th to 9th grade as w ell as traum a-inform ed restorative justice services that prom ote youth healing and support school staﬀ to adopt new approaches to conﬂict. Individual therapy, one traum a treatm ent group per year, tw o w eekly restorative circle groups per sem ester, and coaching and support for teachers and staﬀ w ill be provided at Oakland High and Oakland Technical High Schools.

The annual sum m er bridge w ill be provided in partnership w ith the W ellness Centers at each school.

The YLA provides academ ic skill developm ent, a rigorous and culturally relevant curriculum , and career aw areness to low -incom e youth of color, particularly those w ho are the ﬁrst in their fam ily to go to college. Over three years students learn about the legal system , social justice, ethnic studies, prepare a m ock-trial, receive SAT preparation, and receive group and individualized college and scholarship preparation. The three YLA cohorts are each m ade up of 12 students and all levels m eet once a w eek in Fruitvale. 34 college students receive ongoing support and internship opportunities.

College Track is a 10-year, com prehensive college com pletion program that em pow ers low -incom e and ﬁrst generation students to persist to and through college. During the 2019-2020 school year, College Track w ill provide academ ic, social-em otional, and logistical supports to 450+ students out of our Jack London Square site. From enrollm ent in ninth grade through college graduation, students receive (am ong m any other oﬀerings) academ ic advising and tutoring, social em otional w ellness program m ing, college exploration/application support, scholarships, and career exploration opportunities.

As a collaborative partnership w e provide academ ic, enrichm ent and college-readiness support services for 400 African Am erican and Latino/x students across four OUSD high schools. Each sports season w e w ill serve 30-60 students w ho participate on school's com petitive sports team s. To com plem ent athletic team activities, our evidenced-based program provides culturally responsive academ ic care m anagem ent, transcript review , course planning, study strategies, study hall tutors, m entorships, m indfulness, life skills, college application and enrollm ent, career exploration and internships.

Student Engagem ent in Restorative Justice Program (SERJ) builds capacity for students and adults to w ork in partnership in Restorative Justice to provide an environm ent that supports academ ic achievem ent. 45 diverse student leaders from 3 OUSD high schools w ill participate in leading Peer RJ program s in w hich they design and hold circles w ith 900 9th graders across the three schools focusing on transition to high school. They w ill build com m unity, restore harm , and provide w elcom e circles for new students, including unaccom panied m inors.

The EM ERGE Academ y is an innovative educational reentry program for girls and young w om en in Oakland/Alam eda County, ages 15-18, w ho are returning to school from conditions of conﬁnem ent. Located at Girls, Inc. and in partnership w ith the Alam eda County Oﬃ ce of Education, the goals of the program are to repair reentering girls' relationships w ith school, to recover school credits through accelerated credit recovery, and to facilitate their enrollm ent in an institution of higher learning and/or perm anent em ploym ent. The program serves up to 30 Oakland students each year.

The HCSA Career Exploration Program (HCSA-CEP) is designed to: 1) Encourage Oakland youth of color to explore non-clinical health careers and Allied health careers; 2) Increase aw areness of health services-related jobs, and 3) Prepare the future health w orkforce for entry-level positions in the County. To this end, HCSA-CEP provides 30 10th-12th graders w ith a com prehensive 100-hour sum m er internship and another 20 youth w ith 160-hour year-long internships. In HCSA-CEP, HCSA acts as our ow n prim ary em ployer, providing an extensive m enu of w orkforce placem ents connecting youth to m entors.
