ResolutionNo. C.M.S.INTRODUCEDBYMAYORLIBBYSCHAAFRESOLUTIONCONFIRMINGTHEMAYOR'SAPPOINTMENTOFKARELYORDAZTOTHEPOLICECOMMISSIONASANALTERNATECOMMISSIONER WHEREAS,OnNovember8,2016,OaklandvotersapprovedMeasureLLwith83.19%votinginfavorofthemeasure;and WHEREAS,MeasureLLestablishesaPoliceCommissiontooverseetheOaklandPoliceDepartment'spoliciesandprocedures,andaCommunityPoliceReviewAgencytoinvestigatepolicemisconductandrecommenddiscipline;and WHEREAS,Section604(a)(1)ofMeasureLLestablishesasevenmemberPoliceCommissionandSection604(c)(2)requirestheMayortoappointthreemembersoftheCommissionandanalternatememberoftheCommission;and WHEREAS,Section604(c)(2)oftheCityCharterprovidesthattheCityCouncilshallacceptorrejecttheMayor'sappointmentstothePoliceCommission;nowtherefore,beitRESOLVED:ThatpursuanttoCityChartersection604(c)(2),theCityCouncilherebyacceptstheMayor'sappointmentofKarelyOrdaztoserveasanalternatememberofthePoliceCommissionforatermbeginningJune8,2022andendingonOctober16,2023,fillingtheseatformerlyheldbyMarshaPeterson. iNCOUNCIL,OAKLAND,CALIFORNIA,PASSEDBYTHEFOLLOWINGVOTE:AYES- FIFE,GALLO,KALB,KAPLAN,REID,TAYLOR,THAOANDPRESIDENTFORTUNATOBASNOES- ABSENT
