President Fortunato Bas and Members of the City Council:
Pursuant to Section 401 of the Charter, the City Attorney has prepared and requests your approval of a resolution authorizing compromise and settlement of the above -entitled claim for the sum of Thirty-Four Thousand Fift y-Five Dollars and Thirty-Five Cents ($34,055.35), made payable to Best Instrument Repair and A&G Music / Dick Akright.
This action arises out of a December 14, 2020 incident in which the Claimant claims that a blockage in the City’s sewer caused substantial damage to business property including music instruments, accessories, and books.
The City Council authorized settlement of this case in Closed Session on Thursday, May 5, 2022 (moved by Counci lmember Treva Reid and seconded by Vice Mayor Rebecca Kaplan - 7 Ayes, 1 Excused – Councilmember Noel Gallo).
