This case arose out of an incident occurring on April 4, 2021.
FACTS/ISSUES:
On April 4, 2021, 420 gallons of raw sewage backed up into the residence of Shannon Murphey at 4226 Whittle Avenue in Oakland. Murphey alleges that a blockage in the City’s sewer caused the back up and resulting damage to Murphey’s house.
Murphey filed a government tort claim to seek reimbursement of their damages. The alleged economic damages total approximately $35,000.00. The approved settlement resolves all claims with Murphey in this matter without litigation.
