Dear Executive Director Lengyel:
The City of Oakland is encouraged to support the Alameda County Transportation Commission’s San Pablo Avenue Corridor Project and looks forward to continuing to partner with Alameda CTC and Oaklanders during the upcoming detailed design phase.
This Project promises safety improvements on one of the City’s highest injury corridors. The Project seeks to provide high-quality transportation options for neighbors and businesses along and adjacent to San Pablo Avenue. Improving safety and enhancing access for people walking, biking, and taking transit is consistent with multiple City plans and policies, including our Safe Oakland Streets Initiative, Transit Action Strategy, Bike Plan, Pedestrian Plan, and Equitable Climate Action Plan.
The City welcomes the Project’s goals to:
• Enhance safety for all travel modes
• Improve comfort and quality of trips for all users
• Support a strong local economy and efficiently address the needs of existing residents and business owners, while accommodating growth along the corridor and respecting local contexts • Promote equitable transportation and design solutions
