RESOLUTION CONFIRMING COUNCILMEMBER ____________________
AS PRESIDENT PRO TEMPORE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OAKLAND FOR THE TERM BEGINNING JANUARY 9, 2023 AND
ENDING JANUARY 6, 2025 PURSUANT TO CITY CHARTER SECTION 208 WH
EREAS, City Charter sectioni 208 provides in relevant part: “At 11:00 a.m. on the first Monday following January 2 following each General Municipal Election, the Council shall meet at the established Council meeting place, at which time and place the newly elected members of the Council shall assume the duties of their office; and at such meeting, and at its first meeting in January of each odd-numbered year, the Council shall, by resolution, elect a Council President from among its members to serve for a two-year term. The Council also shall elect, by resolution, a President Pro Tempore of the Council from among its members to serve a one or two-year term”; and WH
EREAS, the Monday following January 2, 2023 is January 9th; and WHEREAS, Rule 6 of the Council Rules of Procedure provides that "[i]n the absence or unavailability of the President of the Council, the President Pro Tempore shall perform the duties of the President of the Council"; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED: That Councilmember _______________, is confirmed President Pro Tempore of the City Council of the City of Oakland for the term beginning January 9, 2023 and ending January 6, 2025 in accordance with Charter section 208 and Resolution 88266 C.M.S., Rule 6, establishing the City Council’s Rules of Procedures.
