Dear Colleagues on the City Council and Members of the Public, In the midst of an ongoing pandemic and widespread inequality, it is the duty of every electedofficial to stand up and demand that healthcare become a right, and not a privilege. The UnitedStates is the only major country in the world to not provide healthcare to all its residents,resulting in poorer health outcomes and life expectancy, especially for BIPOC communities.
This is why I am urging you to join me in supporting Assembly Bill 1690, which would helpestablish a statewide, universal, affordable, and quality single payer healthcare bill. WithPresident Biden in office, we have a real chance at receiving the federal waivers necessary tomake this bill a reality and once again show that our city and our state are leaders in progressivepolicy in the United States.
