Background Information
With 81% of voters approving Measure S1, in 2020, the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) was established as an independent civilian oversight agency that monitors and audits the Oakland Police Department’s (OPD’s) policies, practices and procedures.

Specifically, the OIG is required to audit the 52 tasks of the Negotiated Settlement Agreement (NSA).
