RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND CELEBRATING MCCLYMONDS
SENIOR JAIVIAN THOMAS FOR HIS OUTSTANDING ACADEMIC AND
ATHLETIC ACHIEVEMENTS AND WISHING HIM CONTINUED
SUCCESS IN HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS
WHEREAS, Jaivian Thomas is a senior at McClymonds High School in West Oakland, where he is a star student-athlete playing the running back position on the McClymonds Warriors football team; and
WHEREAS, nicknamed “The Jet” for his speed and skill on the field, Jaivian rushed for 2,528 yards and 30 touchdowns in the 2022 football season and combining for 4028 yards over the 2021 and 2022 seasons; and
WHEREAS, Jaivian’s contributions to the Warriors has helped the team continue to be a dominating force in high school football, including securing a state title during the 2021 season ; and
WHEREAS, Jaivian has been named Cal -Hi Sports North Coast Section Player of the Year, Oakland Athletic League's 2022 MVP, and San Francisco Chronicle’ s 2022 All -Metro Player of the Year; and
WHEREAS, Jaivian’s accomplishments are not confined to the football field; he is an honor roll student who has maintained a high grade point a verage throughout his high school career; and
WHEREAS, after graduating from McClymonds in May 2023, Jaivian will be attending the University of California, Berkeley (Cal) and has committed to play for the Cal Bears Football team; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED: That the Oakland City Council hereby r ecognizes and celebrates Jaivian Thomas for his outstanding academic and athletic achievements and wish him continued success in his future endeavors.
