• Homicides, shootings, robberies, and burglaries remain priorities of focus.
– Measurable gang and group violence in West Oakland
decreased from Q1 and Q2 2023 compared to Q1 and Q2
2022 due to a collaboration with preventative patrols and intelligence led patrol strategies, Ceasefire, Department of Violence Prevention, and OPD’s Violent Crime Operations Center (VCOC). Those strategies continue.
– Robberies in Area 1 have increased by 4% although
preventative patrols, collaborative community efforts, and focused enforcement and investigations continue.
– Total Part 1 crimes have decreased by 21% in Area 1 in Q1 and Q2 2023 due to these collaborative efforts compared to the same time frame in 2022.
• Problem solving projects continue into 2023 to address public safety issues and crimes committed in the violence concentrated gang areas. These projects emphasize prevention and conflict resolution through community partnerships.

This report is hierarchy based. Crime totals reflect one offense (the most severe) per incident.

These statistics are drawn from the Oakland Police Dept. database. They are unaudited and not used to figure the crime numbers reported to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) program. This report is run by the date the crimes occurred. Statistics can be affected by late reporting, the geocoding process, or the reclassification or unfounding of crimes. Because crime reporting and data entry can run behind, all crimes may not be recorded.
