Pursuant to City Charter Section 601, the Mayor has appointed the following persons as members of the following board or commission, subject to City Council confirmation:

Calupe Kaufusi, Mayoral appointment to serve a two-year term as a District 2 Commissioner that began July 1, 2022 and will end June 30, 2024, filling the seat previously held by Aireanna Murrell.
Anohki Mehta, Mayoral appointment to serve a two-year term as a District 4 Commissioner that began July 1, 2022 and will end June 30, 2024, filling the seat previously held by Francesca Berlow.
Katie Liang, Mayoral appointment to serve a two-year term as a District 5 Commissioner that began July 1, 2022 and will end June 30, 2024, filling the seat previously held by Harper V alentine.
Amber Johnson, Mayoral appointment to serve a two-year term as a District 6 Commissioner that began July 1, 2022 and will end June 30, 2024, filling the seat previously held by Emily Chachagua.
Ana Xu Li, Mayoral appointment to serve a two-year term as an At-Large Commissioner that began July 1, 2022 and will end June 30, 2024, filling the seat previously held by Mekilet Gebregiorgis.
Areli Chavez, Mayoral appointment to serve a two-year term as an At-Large Commissioner that begins July 1, 2022 and will end June 30, 2024, filling the seat previously held by Bria Woodland.
Steve Nguyen, Mayoral appointment to serve a two-year term as an At-Large Commissioner that began July 1, 2022 and will end June 30, 2024, filling the seat previously held by Cassandra Y oung.
Michelle Wong, Mayoral appointment to serve a two-year term as an At-Large Commissioner that began July 1, 2022 and will end June 30, 2024, filling the seat previously held by Hayden Thompson.
Olivia Richardson Feldman, Mayoral appointment to serve a two-year term as a an At-Large Commissioner that began July 1, 2022 and will end June 30, 2024, filling the seat previously held by Romero Wesson.
Haniel Kebede, Mayoral appointment to serve a two-year term as a an At-Large Commissioner that began July 1, 2022 and will end June 30, 2024, filling the seat previously held by Kendy Mendoza.

RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE MAYOR’S REAPPOINTMENT OF
DARBY HATFIELD, AND APPOINTMENTS OF CALUPE KAUFUSI,
ANA XU LI, ARELI CHAVEZ, ANOHKI MEHTA, KATIE LIANG,
STEVE NGUYEN, AMBER JOHNSON, MICHELLE WONG, HANIEL
KEBEDE, AND OLIVIA RICHARDSON FELDMAN AS MEMBERS OF
THE OAKLAND YOUTH COMMISSION
WHEREAS, Section 601 of the City Charter provides that members of City boards and commissions shall be appointed by the Mayor subject to confirmation by the affirmative vote of five members of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the Youth Advisory Commission was crea ted by Ordinance No. 10545 C.M.S., adopted February 5, 1985, amended by Ordinance No. 11461, passed June 23, 1992, amended by Ordinance No. 11869, passed March 12, 1996, and amended by Ordinance No. 13690, passed May 17, 2022, which changed the name from the “Youth Advisory Commission” to the “Oakland Youth Commission;” and
WHEREAS, the Oakland Youth Commission is now comprised of seventeen (17) to twenty-five (25) youth members from the ages of 13 to 21, appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council, one to represent each Council District and the remaining members to serve as at-large members, with all appointments being for a period of two years, with a limit of two consecutive terms; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Youth Advisory Commissio n is to identify the needs of youth of the community from the ages of 13 to 21, thereby creating citizen awareness of such needs and serving as the policy recommending body for civic/education -related matters within the jurisdiction of the City of Oakland in which youth have an interest; and WHEREAS, the Honorable Mayor Sheng Thao has reappointed Darby Hatfield to the Oakland Youth Commission; and
2 WHEREAS, the Honorable Mayor Sheng Thao has appointed Calupe Kaufusi, Ana Xu Li, Areli Chav ez, Anohki Mehta, Katie Liang, Steve Nguyen, Amber Johnson, Michelle Wong, Haniel Kebede, and Olivia Richardson Feldman to the Oakland Youth Commission for the terms set forth below; now therefore be it
RESOLVED: That pursuant to City Charter section 601, the City Council hereby confirms the following appointments to the Oakland Youth Commission:
Calupe Kaufusi, Mayoral appointment to serve a two -year term as a District 2 Commissioner that began July 1, 2022 and will end June 30, 2024, filling the seat vacated by Aireanna Murrell.
