INFORMATION
Dear City Council Colleagues and Members of the Public, It is my honor to respectfully request the Council adopt the following resolution: Resolution commemoratively renaming 66th avenue and Coliseum way as “Godfather Griz Jones Way” pursuant to the policy and criteria established by Oakland City Council resolution no. 77967 C.M.S .
The founder Gregory Jones aka Godfather Griz committed his life toward enriching the health and welfare of the community through his humanitarian work for the people a nd the City of Oakland through his non- profit Forever Oakland Inc . The 66th MOB “Making Oakland Better” organization. He was a Humanitarian who would do monthly Neighborhood cleanup within every District, feeding and clothing the less fortunate, and made sure the children of Oakland were served. Godfather Griz has hosted many Charity Events over the years to raise awareness of the needs in Oakland.
We thank Gregory Jones for his dedication and years of service and contributions to the community The location of the commemorative street renaming, 66th Avenue and Coliseum Way is fitting as that was Godfather Griz “spot” as he would say.
Respectfully submitted,
Councilmember Noel Gallo, District 5
