RESOLUTION NO. C.M.S.
RESOLUTION AWARDING A GRANT AGREEMENT TO CENTRO
LEGAL DE LA RAZA, INC. FOR AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED ONE
MILLION DOLLARS ($1,000,000) TO PROVIDE TENANT LEGAL
SERVICES AND EVICTION PROTECTION
WHEREAS, On June 26, 2023, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 89804 C.M.S. which adopted the FY 23- 25 Budget; and
WHEREAS, the funding for the contract is available in Affordable Housing Trust Fund (1870), CDBG Coordination Organization (89949), Third Party: Grant Contracts Earned Account (54912), Tenant Legal Services Project (1007111); and
WHEREAS, Centro Legal de la Raza, Inc. (“Centro Legal”) provides critical tenant legal services; and
WHEREAS, Evictions are increasing and expected to continue to increase now that the Eviction Moratorium has ended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED: That the City Council hereby awards a grant agreement to Centro Legal de la Raza in an amount not to exceed One Million Dollars ($1,000,000); and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City Administrator is hereby authorized to negotiate, execute, amend, extend or otherwise take any action in relation to the grant agreement except increasing the monetary amount, in accordance with the City Council’s budget appropriation and allocation via Resolution 89804 without returning to City Council.
