APPROVED AS TO FORM AND LEGALITY ________________________ CITY ATTORNEY’S OFFICE OAKLAND CITY COUNCIL RESOLUTION NO. C.M.S. INTRODUCED BY CITY ADMINISTRATOR, JESTIN D. JOHNSON RESOLUTION HONORING AND CONGRATULATING IVAN POON FOR HIS RETIREMENT AND 20 YEARS OF EXEMPLARY SERVICE TO THE CITY OF OAKLAND WHEREAS, Ivan Poon, Information Systems Manager I (“ISMI”) in the Information Technology Department (“ITD”) overseeing the Desktop Support team (a/k/a Client Support Services or “CSS”), is retiring after 20 years of outstanding service to the City of Oakland; and WHEREAS, Mr. Poon was hired in October 2003 as in Information Services Specialist I (“ISSI”) in the Public Works Department; was promoted to ISSII in 2005; then, in ITD, promoted again to ISSIII in 2015; and finally, in 2019, promoted to his current role as ISMI in 2019; and WHEREAS, during his career in City of Oakland, Ivan has supported all City departments and staff; demonstrating extraordinary teamwork, leadership, and customer service, making invaluable contributions to projects including, but certainly not limited to, Fleet Management, Cityworks, City server migrations, Windows upgrades; VMware virtualization, and more; and WHEREAS, Mr. Poon was recognized as the Employee of the Year in 2007 while working for Oakland Public Works Department; and WHEREAS, Mr. Poon’s dedication to public service, enthusiasm and commitment to the City of Oakland has helped positively transform the way that Information Technology services are developed, delivered, and supported by the City; and WHEREAS, Mr. Poon has said the most rewarding aspect of his career is not how may projects he implemented, but the ability to help people every day; and, that none of it would have been possible without the help of the many other dedicated ITD professionals in the City who, he adds, are truly his brothers and sisters; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED: That through his service, Mr. Poon has made the City of Oakland a better organization, and his expertise, dedication, and customer service ethos have led to technology solutions and implementations that have benefited all City Staff; and be it 2 FURTHER RESOLVED: The City Council does hereby honor Ivan Poon for his 20 years of exemplary service to the City of Oakland and wish him peace, love, and happiness in his well-earned and well-deserved retirement.
