ORDINANCE: (1) AMENDING OAKLAND MUNICIPAL CODE CHAP TER 2.45,
THE ENABLING ORDINANCE FOR THE OAKLAND POLICE COMMI SSION,
TO BE CONSISTENT WITH CHARTER AMENDMENTS UNDER BALL OT
MEASURE S1 AND TO MODIFY THE POWERS AND DUTIES OF T HE OAK- LAND POLICE COMMISSION AND THE POLICE COMMISSION’S SELEC- TION PANEL; AND
(2) AMENDING OAKLAND MUNICIPAL CODE CHAPTER 2.46, T HE ENA-
BLING ORDINANCE FOR THE COMMUNITY POLICE REVIEW AGE NCY, TO
BE CONSISTENT WITH CHARTER AMENDMENTS UNDER BALLOT MEAS- URE S1 AND TO MODIFY THE POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE C OMMUNI- TY POLICE REVIEW AGENCY; AND
(3) ADDING CHAPTER 2.47 TO THE OAKLAND MUNICIPAL CO DE, AN EN-
ABLING ORDINANCE FOR THE OFFICE OF THE INSPECTOR GE NERAL, TO IMPLEMENT CHARTER AMENDMENTS UNDER BALLOT MEASURE S 1 AND
TO FURTHER DEFINE THE POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE OFFI CE OF THE INSPECTOR GENERAL.
This ordinance will amend Oakland Municipal Code Ch apters 2.45 and
2.46, which are the enabling ordinances for the Oakland Police CommisH sion and Community Police Review Agency, respectively , and will add Chapter 2.47, which will be the enabling ordinance fo r the Office of InH spector General, to implement amendments to the City Charte r adoptH ed with the passage ballot measure S1 in 2020, as well as to further deH fine the powers and duties of the Police Commission, C ommunity PoH lice Review Agency, and the Office of Inspector General Notice of Publication
This Ordinance was introduced as amended at the Special City Council meeting, Monday evening December 16, 2024 , and passed to print 5 Ayes; 1 Abstained Jenkins; 2 Excused Fife and Ramac handran . Final adoption has been scheduled for the City Council meetin g Tuesday evening January 21, 2025, 3:30 P.M. , at One Frank H. Ogawa Plaza, Council Chamber, 3rd floor, Oakland, California, an d via TeleconferH ence.
