WHEREAS, the City entered into a MOU with the Port to provide ARFF services; and

WHEREAS, the City subsequently entered into several agreements to supplement the MOU to continue to provide ARFF services; and

WHEREAS, the latest supplement to the MOU expires on December 31, 2023; and

WHEREAS, representatives from the Port of Oakland and the City are actively engaged in negotiations for a new, longer term MOU for the City’s continued provision of ARFF services at the Airport; and

2 WHEREAS, the Board of the Port of Oakland has approved the proposed extension of the MOU, through December 31, 2024; and

WHEREAS, in the interest of continuing to provide uninterrupted ARFF services at the Airport, City staff recommends that the City Council authorize the City Administrator to amend the current MOU between the City and Port to extend the term for twelve months to allow the Oakland Fire Department to continue to provide such services at the Airport while the City and Port continue negotiations on a new longer-term MOU; now, therefore, be it
