RESOLUTION DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE CITY OF
OAKLAND SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON TUESDAY,
MARCH 5, 2024
WHEREAS, pursuant to California law and Section 1101 of the Charter of the City of Oakland, a Special Municipal Election was duly and regularly held in the City of Oakland on Tuesday, November 8, 2022; and
WHEREAS, the Alameda County Regist rar of Voters has prepared and submitted a certified statement of the results of said Special Municipal Election; and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk has canvassed the election returns of said Special Municipal Election pursuant to law; and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk has certified the results for the Special Municipal Election attached hereto as Exhibit A; and
WHEREAS, California Elections Code sections 10263 and 15400 provide that the governing body shall declare the results of each election under its jurisdiction as to the persons elected and the measures voted on at the election; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED: That the City Council declares the results of the canvass of the returns of said Special Municipal Election to be as follows:
The votes cast for the candidate for the Office of City Auditor are as follows:
Michael Houston 61,966
; and be it
2 FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City Council hereby determines and declares that the following candidate, having received the majority of the votes cast for said office is hereby declared elected to said office and shall assume the duties of that office upon being sworn in:

FURTHER RESOLVED: That the results of the ballots cast for and against the measure that was voted upon at said election are as follows:

Proposed Ordinance
Measure increasing the appropriations limit under Article XIIIB of the California Constitution (which limits city expenditures of tax proceeds) to allow the City of Oakland to continue to expend revenues from taxes Oakland voters previously approved for emergency medical services, paramedic services, library services, public safety and violence prevention services, homeless services, children’s services, parks and recreation, the Oakland Zoo and other lawf ul government purposes, without increasing or imposi ng new taxes.

; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City Council hereby determines and declares that the following measure has passed as shown below:
Measure D did receive a majority of the votes cast at said election for said measure and is hereby declared PASSED

FURTHER RESOLVED: That the total number of registered voters was 246,927 and the canvas of the returns of said Special Municipal Election show that the total number of ballots cast at the Special Municipal Election was 89,526 (or 36.26%); and be it
3 FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City Council hereby declares that the Official Canvass Summary report on file in the Office of the City Clerk, containing within the number of votes cast at each precinct for each candidate and for and against each measure, be and is hereby adopted.
