OAKLAND MUNICIPAL CODE TO AUTHORIZE PERSONS AGED 16 AND 17,
WHO ARE OTHERWISE ELIGIBLE TO VOTE UNDER STATE LAW,
TO VOTE FOR THE OFFICE OF SCHOOL BOARD DIRECTOR
ThisOrdinancewilladdSection3.08.035totheOakla ndMunicipalCode toallowpersonsaged16and17,whoareotherwise eligibletovotefor theofficeofSchoolBoardDirectorunderstatelaw, tovotefortheof- ficeofSchoolBoardDirectorinOaklandUnifiedSchoolBoardElections.
ThisOrdinancewillauthorizeyouthvotinginSchool DirectorElections forfutureelectionsifsoauthorizedintheordinance,resolution,and/or any other documentation required by law to call the election. Pre- registrationunderstatelaw,pursuanttotheproce duresdevelopedby theCaliforniaSecretaryofState,shallbetheexclusivemeansbywhich apersonaged16or17mayregistertovoteforScho olBoardElections.
NothinginthisOrdinanceshallotherwisealterthe definitionof“voter- s” or “qualified elector” as generally used in the Oakland Charter or OaklandMunicipalCode.
