RESIDENT WHOSE ACCESS TO AND FROM THEIR UNIT IS
SUBSTANTIALLY RESTRICTED DUE TO THE RESIDENT’S DISABILITY OR
OTHER PHYSICAL CONDITION LIMITING THEIR ABILITY TO USE STAIRS WHEN AN ELEVATOR IS INOPERABLE FOR MORE THAN 24 HOURS
Thisordinancecreatesanaffirmativedutyforownersandoperatorsof residentialpropertiesthatcontainelevatorstomai ntainelevatorsin anoperableconditionatalltimes,tocompleteelevatorrepairsexpedi- tiously, and to provide temporary alternative housing to residents whoseaccesstoandegressfromtheirdwellingunitissubstantiallyre- stricted,duetophysicalimpairment,whenanelevat orisinoperable formorethan24hours.
