I am a cannabis conissuer, buisness owner, and advocate for cannabis since 1985. I am also from oakland, with children and family here. I have been a part of several cannabis orgs in oakland, and currently working on my own cannabis buisness startup here in oakland as a verified equity applicant through the city of oaklands equity program.I am also one of the founders of the oakland incubator equity hub, a group of 4 oakland equity applicants who all are working to build a equitable, sustainable. economy and space to help other equty applicants get started in the legal cannabis market as well.I am a community member of oakland as well, and i would like to be a voice for the unheard who would like to speak but cant. I have also been incarcerated for cannabis, so i have some insight on what is working in cannabis and whats not working. I would like to help. i also just graduated from oaksterdam buisness of cannabis class and recently completed the c4c program.

RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE APPOINTMENT OF LINDA GRANT
AS A MEMBER OF THE CANNABIS REGULATORY COMMISSION
WHEREAS, Section 601 of the City Charter provides that members of City boards and commissions shall be appointed by the Mayor subject to confirmation by the affirmative vote of five members of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the Oakland Cannabis Regulation and Revenue Act, also known as Measure Z (and hereinafter referred to as “Ordinance”), adopted by the voters of Oakland, November 2, 2004, in the General Municipal Election, created the Cannabis Regulatory Commission to ove rsee the Ordinance's implementation and make recommendations to the City Council regarding implementation of City licenses, taxes, and regulations for adult use of cannabis; and
WHEREAS, the Oakland Cannabis Regulation and Revenue Act specifies that members of the Cannabis Regulatory Commission are to be appointed one by the Mayor, one by the City Auditor, one by the City Administrator, and one from each Member of the City Council, to ser ve unlimited two-year terms; and
WHEREAS, for the members that will be appointed or reappointed pursuant to this Resolution, each one has been selected for appointment by the various applicable Councilmembers and the Mayor; and
WHEREAS, that Ordinance Number 12694 C.M.S., which established the Procedures of the CRC, provides in relevant part “ . . . that an appointment to fill a vacancy shall be for the unexpired terms only”; and
WHEREAS, the Honorable Mayor Sheng Thao has appointed Linda Grant to serve a two-year term subject to confirmation by the City Council; now, therefore, be it
2 RESOLVED: That pursuant to City Charter Section 601, the City Council hereby confirms the Mayor’s appointment of Linda Grant, to serve a two-year term on the Cannabis Regulatory Commission representing District 5 , beginning August 1, 2023 and ending July 31, 2025, filling the vacant seat previously held by Erika Cisneros.
