RESOLUTION ELECTING COUNCILMEMBER ___________ AS
PRESIDENT PRO TEMPORE OF THE C I T Y C O U N C I L O F T H E C I T Y OF OAKLAND FOR THE TERM BEG INNING JANUARY 6, 2025 AND
ENDING JANUARY 4, 2027 PURSUANT TO OAKLAND CITY
CHARTER SECTION 208
WHEREAS, City Charter section 208 provides in relevant part: “At 11:00 a.m. on the first Monday following January 2 following each General Municip al Election, the Council shall meet at the established Council meeting place, at which time an d place the newly elected members of the Council shall assume the duties of their office; and at such meeting, and at its first meeting in January of each odd-numbered year, the Council shall, by resolution, elect a Council President from among its members to serve for a two-yea r term. The Council also shall elect, by resolution, a President Pro Tempore of the Council fr om among its members to serve a one or two-year term”; and
WHEREAS, the Monday following January 2, 2025 is January 6; and
WHEREAS , Rule 6 of the Council Rules of Procedure, established by Reso lution No. 90066 C.M.S., provides that "[i]n the absence or unavailability of the President of the Council, the President Pro Tempore shall perform the duties of the Presi dent of the Council"; now, therefore, be it
R E S O L V E D : That Councilmember ______________ is elected President Pro Temp ore of the City Council of the City of Oakland for the term beginni ng January 6, 2025 and ending January 4, 2027 in accordance with Charter section 208 and Rule 6 of the City Council’s Rules of Procedure, established by Resolution No. 90066 C.M.S.
