Subject: President of the Council to Designate a Councilmember as Council President Pro Tempore Subject to Confirmation by the City Council
Pursuant to Resolution 90066 CMS, Oakland City Council Rules of Procedure, the President of the Council, subject to confirmation by the Council shall designate a Councilmember to serve as “President Pro Tempore” in the absence or unavailability of the President of the Council. The President Pro Tempore shall perform the duties of the President of the Council in their absence, at Rule 6 pursuant to City Charter section 208, provides that the President Pro Tempore of the City Council shall be elected by the City Council at the first meeting in January to serve a two-year term as the presiding officer of the City Council.
Attached is a resolution for your consideration that would appoint the President Pro Tempore of the City Council on January 6, 2025.
