INTRODUCED BY COUNCIL PRESIDENT PRO TEMPORE NOEL GALLO
RESOLUTION APPOINTING COUNCILMEMBER KEN HOUSTON AS A
MEMBER OF THE ALAMEDA COUNTY WASTE MANAGEMENT
AUTHORITY (ACWMA) BOARD AND APPOINTING COUNCILMEMBER
JANANI RAMACHANDRAN AS AN ALTERNATE MEMBER OF THE BOARD WHEREAS, the City of Oakland is one of the agencies that entered into a Joint Exercise of Powers Agreement for Waste Management as amended November 10, 1992, which, among other things, established the Alameda County Waste Management Authority (ACWMA) Board; and
WHEREAS, the ACWMA Board oversees programs in source reduction, recycling, market development, technical assistance, and public education, with membership comprising representatives from the County of Alameda, the cities of Alameda County, and two sanitary districts; and
WHEREAS, the City of Oakland may appoint one member and one alternate member to the ACWMA Board; and
WHEREAS, Councilmember Dan Kalb was previously appointed a member, and Councilmember Rebecca Kaplan was previously appointed as an alternate member of the ACWMA Board; and
WHEREAS, the City Council’s Rules of Procedures provide that “the President of the Council shall recommend appointments to regional and local boards and agencies, as appropriate, subject to confirmation by the Council”; now, therefore, be it
2 RESOLVED: That Councilmember Ken Houston is hereby appointed to the ACWMA Board, and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED: Councilmember Janani Ramachandran is hereby appointed as an alternate member to the ACWMA Board.
