RESOLUTION NO.______________ C.M.S.
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR TO
APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT GRANTS, GIFTS AND DONATIONS FROM
THE FRIENDS OF THE OAKLAND PUBLIC LIBRARY, INCLUDING
DONATIONS OF MONEY, GOODS, AND IN -KIND SERVICES, IN THE CUMULATIVE AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $5,000,000 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2030; AND APPROPRIATE SAID FUNDS FOR LIBRARY SERVICES
WHEREAS, the Frie nds of the Oakland Public Library (FOPL) is a volunteer -led nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the Oakland Public Library and raising funds to offer grants, gifts and donations to support the Library; and
WHEREAS, the Oakland Public Library de pends on these grants, gifts and donations to fund projects and programs that supplement the City of Oakland’s budget; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 8 9222 C.M.S., the City Council authorized the City Administrator to accept and appropriate cash grants and accept non-cash grants from FOPL in a cumulative amount of $3,000,000 through June 30, 2025; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to encourage the offering of grants, gifts and donations from the Friends of the Oakland Public Library and to fac ilitate the timely use of such grants, gifts and donations in support of the Library; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED: That the City Administrator is hereby authorized to apply for, accept and appropriate grants, gifts and donations of money and accept grants, gifts and donations of goods and services from the Friends of the Oakland Public Library in the cumulative amoun t not to exceed $5,000,000 through June 30, 2030 for library services; and be it
2 FURTHER RESOLVED: That grants, gifts and donations of money received shall be appropriated into the Oakland Public Library Trust Fund (7540).
