RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE APPOINTMENT OF COMMUNITY
MEMBER REVEREND DOCTOR JACQUELINE A. THOMPSON TO
THE OAKLAND-ALAMEDA COUNTY COLISEUM AUTHORITY
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FO R THE TERM BEGINNING
OCTOBER 8, 2023 AND ENDING ON OCTOBER 7, 2025
WHEREAS , section 4 of the Joint Exercise of Powers Agreement dated Dec ember 17, 1996 (“Joint Powers Agreement”) cr eated the Oakland-Alameda Cou nty Coliseum Authority, whose members are appointed by the Oakland City Council and the Alameda County Board of Supervisors to serve two-year terms; and
WHEREAS, section 4 of the Joint Powers Agreement provides that the Oak land- Alameda County Coliseum Authority Board of Commissioners shall consist of four members, two members of the City Council as appointed by the City Counci l and two members of the Alameda County Board of Supervisors as appointed by the Board of Supervisors; and
WHEREAS, section 4 of the Joint Powers Agreement provides that by reso lution of the Authority, the number of commissioners may be increased by the Commission in even increments, but in no event shall the total number of commissioners exceed ten; and
WHEREAS, on February 9, 2001, pursuant to section 4 of the Joint Power s Agreement, the Board of Commissioners voted to add additional board members with two to be appointed by the City Council from members of the community; and
WHEREAS, the Council appointed community m ember Reverend Doctor Pastor Jacqueline A. Thompson (Reverend Thompson) to serve on the JPA Board for the period commencing on October 8, 2021 to October 7, 2023 pursuant to Re solution No. 89132 C.M.S.; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Thompson has served as a member of the JPA Board for t he foregoing term and has continued to serve in that capacity; and
WHEREAS, Rule 6 of the Council's Rules of Procedure (Resolution No. 90 066 C.M.S.) provides that, except for appointments reserved to the Mayor un der the City Charter, the Council President shall recommend appointments to regional and local bo ards and agencies as appropriate subject to confirmation of the City Council; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED: That the City Council hereby c onfirms the appointment of Reve rend Doctor Jacqueline A. Thompson to the Oakland-Alameda County Col iseum Authority Board of Commissioners for the term beginning October 8, 2023 and ending October 7, 2025.
