INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMEMBER WANG
AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 88461 C.M.S. TO EXTEND THE “NO
PARKING” RESTRICTION AT THE LAKESHORE AVENUE CUL -DE-
SAC NEAR LAKE MERRITT
WHEREAS, despite the existing restriction, the Lakeshore cul-de-sac continues to attract large late-night gatherings and vehicle activity that have generated significant safety concerns for nearby residents and park users; and
WHEREAS, this activity has escalated to violence, including a recent shooting at the cul-de-sac, which has underscored the urgent need for stronger measures to prevent crime and protect the community; and
WHEREAS, extending the “No Parking” hours is necessary to deter unlawful gatherings, reduce the risk of further violence, and promote the safe and peaceful use of Lake Merritt; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED: That Resolution No. 88461 C.M.S. is hereby amended to extend the “No Parking” restriction on the lake side of Lakeshore Avenue between Lake Merritt Boulevard and 1st Avenue, including the Lakeshore cul-de-sac, to the hours of 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. daily; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City Administrator, or designee, is authorized and directed to cause the installation of appropriate signage and to enforce the extended restriction consistent with this Resolution.
