The Mayor's Office respectfully requests City Council consideration for the appointment of a new member to the Commission on Homelessness to fill vacant positions. The Commission on Homelessness plays a vital role in advising the city on policies, programs, and initiatives that address homelessness and promote housing stability, dignity, and access to essential services. These appointments will strengthen the commission’s capacity to respond to critical community needs and advance effective, compassionate solutions for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Proposed Actions: • Appoint a new member to the Commission on Homelessness • Strengthen the Commission’s breadth of lived experience, subject-matter expertise, and stakeholder representation • Maintain full operational capacity to effectively advance the Commission’s ongoing initiatives and advisory responsibilities Next Steps: The Mayor’s Office will present the recommended appointment at the upcoming Council
meeting. The proposed appointee satisfies all qualifications set forth in the municipal code and brings valuable experience, insight, and perspective that will support the Commission on Homelessness in fulfilling its mission. We respectfully request the Council’s timely consideration and appreciate any assistance in expediting this appointment to ensure the Commission’s continued effectiveness in addressing homelessness within the community.
