The Mayor’s Office respectfully requests that the City Council consider appointments to the Head
Start
Advisory
Board
to
fill
existing
vacancies.
The Head Start Advisory Board plays a critical role in supporting Oakland’s Head Start programs by
providing
community
oversight,
advising
on
program
planning
and
policy,
and
helping
ensure
high-quality
early
childhood
education
and
comprehensive
services
for
children
and
families.
The
Board’s
work
is
essential
to
maintaining
compliance
with
federal
Head
Start
requirements
and
advancing
equitable
outcomes
for
Oakland’s
youngest
residents.
Proposed Actions:
● Appoint two new members to fill vacant seats on the Head Start Advisory Board. ● Reappoint three current members Next Steps:

will
present
appointment
recommendations
at
the
next
City
Council
meeting.
