SUBJECT: Oakland School for the Arts Commemorative Street Renaming
Dear Council Colleagues and Community,
The attached resolution approves the commemorative renaming of Telegraph Avenue between 18th Street and William Street as ‘OSA Way’ in honor of Oakland School for the Arts (OSA); allowing for installation of plaques on 18th Street and Telegraph Avenue, 19th Street and Telegraph Avenue, and William Street and Telegraph Avenue.
OSA has been a transformative arts school serving thousands of students grades 6-12 for 24 years.
The school has graduated renowned actors, musicians, and artists, greatly contributing to Oakland’s cultural vitality. OSA's presence in Uptown Oakland brings vibrancy, positivity, and joy and we seek to recognize the contributions and impact of this institution as they embark on their 25th school year.
