RESOLUTION APPOINTING COUNCILMEMBER JANANI
RAMACHANDRAN AS VOTING DELEGATE AND COUNCILMEMBER
ROWENA BROWN AS ALTERNATE VOTING DELEGATE TO
REPRESENT THE CITY OF OAKLAND AT THE LEAGUE OF
CALIFORNIA CITIES 2026 ANNUAL CONFERENCE AND EXPO FROM
SEPTEMBER 23-25
WHEREAS, the City of Oakland is a Member City of the League of California Cities; and
WHEREAS, the Bylaws of the League of California Cities, Article V, Section 3 (a) state:
"Designation. Each Member City may, with the approval of the city council, designate a city official as the city's designated voting delegate and, in the event that the designated voting delegate is unable to serve in that capacity, up to two alternate voting delegates"; and
WHEREAS, the City Council’s Rules of Procedure, Rule 6 states that “the President of the Council shall recommend appointments to regional and local boards and agencies, as appropriate, subject to confirmation by the Council”; and
WHEREAS, Council President Kevin Jenkins wishes to recommend the appointment of Councilmember Janani Ramachandran as the City of Oakland's Voting Delegate and Councilmember Rowena Brown as Alternate Voting Delegate to represent the City of Oakland at the League of California Cities 2026 Annual Conference and Expo from September 23 through September 25 in Anaheim, California; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 91266 C.M.S., the Council authorized the reimbursement of eligible travel expenses for the councilmembers to attend the Annual Conference and Expo; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED: That Councilmember Janani Ramachandran is hereby appointed as the City of Oakland’s Voting Delegate for the League of California Cities 202 6 Annual Conference and Expo; and be it
2 FURTHER RESOLVED: That Councilmember Rowena Brown is hereby appointed the City of Oakland’s Alternate Voting Delegate for the League of California Cities 2026 Annual Conference and Expo.
