President Jenkins and Members of the City Council:
Pursuant to Section 401 of the Charter, the City Attorney has prepared and requests your approval of a resolution authorizing compromise and settlement of the above-entitled lawsuit for the sum of Two Hundred and Thirty Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($230,000.00).
Plaintiff Willie Wilson alleges that on January 30, 2024, Wilson fell off a motorcycle while riding in front of 8470 Pardee Drive and suffered injury. Wilson attributes the fall to a defect in the roadway. Wilson alleges that the City had notice of the dangerous condition and seeks to recover for past and future medical expenses, lost wages, damage to the motorcycle, and pain and suffering.
The City Council has determined that settlement in the amount of $230,000.00, without admitting liability and to avoid further litigation, is in the best interest of the City.
The City Council authorized settlement of this case in Closed Session on Thursday September 17, 2026, (moved by Councilmember Charlene Wang and seconded by Councilmember Carroll Fife - 7 Ayes, 1 Excused – Councilmember Ken Houston).
