Staff Recommends That The City Council Receive An Informational Report From The Oakland Police Department (OPD) On Part II Crime Data In The City Of Oakland.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Attachment A to this biannual report provides information on Part 2 crimes in Oakland for April 2026 through September 2026.
BACKGROUND AND LEGISLATIVE HISTORY
At the June 18, 2026 Rules Committee meeting, this item was added to the biannual reports section of the pending list for the Public Safety Committee meeting.
ANALYSIS AND POLICY ALTERNATIVES
This informational report is presented to the City Council and the Oakland community to provide an update on Part 2 crimes in Oakland. See the attached report (Attachment A) for more information. These statistics are drawn from the Oakland Police Department database. They are unaudited and not used to figure the crime numbers reported to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) program. This report is run by the date the crimes occurred. Statistics can be affected by late reporting, the geocoding process, or the reclassification or unfounding of crimes. Because crime reporting and data entry can run behind, all crimes may not be recorded.
