RE: Appointment of New Member to the Housing, Residential Rent, and Relocation Board The Mayor's Office respectfully requests that the City Council consider the appointment of a new member to the Housing, Residential Rent, and Relocation Board.
The Housing, Residential Rent, and Relocation Board plays a vital role in administering and enforcing residential rent stabilization and tenant protection policies in the City of Oakland, including oversight of rent adjustment petitions, hearings, and compliance with applicable housing regulations. Ensuring continuity of experienced leadership on the Board is critical to preserving fair, transparent, and effective housing governance.
Proposed Actions:
● Appoint a new member to the Rent board
● Maintain quorum and continuity to support ongoing rent stabilization and tenant protection functions
