TO: Joshua McMurray, City Manager
FROM: Kevin Rohani, P.E., Public Works Director/City Engineer SUBJECT: Review the results of the second online survey for the Oakley Regional Park and for City Council to provide recommendations on a preferred alternative to finalize the Master Plan for this park
Background and Analysis
The initial planning for the Oakley Regional Park began in 2006. The first Master Plan prepared for this park was completed in 2019. Since then, at the request of the City Council, staff is making a second effort to redefine the Master Plan for this park by exploring other amenities of this park with potential grant opportunities in mind to fund construction.
On March 29, 2023, the City held the first Community Open House to seek input from members of the community. The presentation included project background, current site information, previous efforts in 2019, and project goals and objectives. An online survey was conducted to seek input from members of the community on what the desired use was envisioned for this park. Based on the survey results, two alternatives were created and presented to the second Community Open House held on July 19, 2023. A second online survey was sent out to gauge which alternative was preferred by the community. Attached is a summary of the second online survey.
In this Work Session, staff seeks any further refinement and input from City Council, so staff can proceed with finalizing the Master Plan for this park.
Consistency with the Oakley Strategic Plan 27+
This effort is consistent with the Oakley Strategic Plan 27+ under the Parks and Open Space and Community and Collaborative Partnerships goal. The Oakley Community Regional Park will be the largest park in our City and this effort is in line with the envisioning and developing of this 55-acre park. The online survey is in line with our community outreach and engagement objectives.
Approved and

City Council
