MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL JOINT MEETING OF THE OAKLEY CITY COUNCIL AND PLANNING COMMISSION HELD JANUARY 28, 2025
1. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL
Mayor Shannon Shaw called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. in the Oakley City Council Chambers located at 3231 Main Street, Oakley, California 94561. Vice Mayor Hugh Henderson, Councilmembers George Fuller, Aaron Meadows and Anissa Williams were present as well as Chair Chuiko and Planning Commissioners Leonard Price, Jeanne Krieg and Jimmy Ramirez, Vice Chair Diego Verduzco was absent.
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG
Mayor Shaw led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
3. PUBLIC COMMENTS
Roman Jauregui provided a public comment.
4. WORK SESSION
4.1 City of Oakley Climate Action Plan: Goals, Targets, and Actions – Joint Work Session with the City Council and Planning Commission (Ken Strelo, Community Development Director)
Community Development Director Ken Strelo introduced Louis Spanias, Senior Sustainability Manager with Cumming Group.
Mr. Spanias made a presentation and mentioned he would collect input from Councilmembers and Planning Commissioners on the Goals, Targets and Actions of the plan regarding the topics of Governance and Leadership, Buildings and Energy, Transportation and Land Use, and Adaptation and Resilience.
Mr. Spanias responded to comments from Councilmember Fuller.
Councilmembers and Commissioners provided their input on each of the four topics.
Mr. Spanias thanked the Council and Commissioners for their time and mentioned there is still time to provide input before the internal draft is issued next month.
Mike Moore and Marilyn Tiernen provided public comments.
5. ADJOURN
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:21 p.m.
