6. DISCUSSION AND BACKGROUND
Fire Station No. 5 was built in 1968, along with other similar Fire Stations. Minimal improvements have been done to the locker room at this station since its construction. Due to aging infrastructure and partial plumbing failure, restrooms and showers have been impacted. It has been a challenge for Fire staff at this station due to the limited restroom capacity. This project will restore full functionality and accommodate for three gender-neutral restroom and shower stalls.

Construction is scheduled to begin in March 2022 and is expected to be completed in six weeks.

The proposed project is categorically exempt from the provisions of the California Quality Act (CEQA) under CEQA guidelines Section 15301 “Existing Facilities” Class 1(c). The Notice of exemption will City of Orange Printed on 1/5/2022Page 1 of 2
